On Saturday, June 8th, the Historic BK House will host the Paul Morphy Quick Chess Tournament from 12noon until 4pm in the very house built by Morphy’s grandfather, Joseph La Carpentier, in 1826! Players will have an opportunity to compete in a tournament and take home cash prizes. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to enter. The event is co-sponsored by the Downriver Chess Club and The Chess Cave.
Tournament details: Five round, two-section, swiss system, G/15;d0, USCF quick-rated tournament.

Prize fund: Prize fund is $250 b/40. Prize fund breakdown as follows:
1st in open, $100
2nd in open, $75
1st in U1400, $50
2nd in U1400, $25
Sections: Sections include open and U1400. Unrated players prize eligible in open only. Sections may be altered at TD discretion to better balance entrants.
Tiebreaks: Cash prizes to be split among all tied entrants.
Date: Saturday, June 8, 2024. Registration 12:00 PM-12:30 PM. Please do not enter the building prior to noon!
Round times: 12:30 PM, 1:15 PM, 1:55 PM, 2:35 PM, 3:15 PM prizes at 3:45 PM. Round times are tentative and subject to change.
Venue: The BK House at 1113 Chartres in the New Orleans French Quarter.
Pairing: The TDs will assign you to your section. If you have a quick rating, that rating will be used. If you only have a regular or blitz rating, the highest rating will be used. Unrated players may play in the U1400 if they agree to forfeit all prize money.
Eligibility: $10 entry fee if purchased by 6/6/24. $15 at the door. Capacity limited to first 40 players, pre-register to guarantee your slot. Equipment: A small amount of chess equipment will be provided. If you have a chess set and clock, please bring it!
Bye policy: Two 0.5 point byes available upon request, must be made prior to pairing round three in non-emergency situations. Bye requests cannot be cancelled following the start of round 3.
