VCF membership not required for the Blitz.

Hotel & Playing Site directly on the BEACH!!! Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront, 5700 Atlantic Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA 23451; Chess Rate for lodging is $139 + taxes and resort fee (for a total of around $169/night).  ALL ROOMS ARE OCEAN VIEW!!!

Hotel is located north of the main boardwalk in a quiet residential area, with fast food options a short drive away.  Hotel restaurant serves breakfast ($15 buffet), lunch, and dinner at reasonable rates with an ocean view!  ALL rooms have mini fridge and microwave.  Hotel will provide concessions / grab-and-go line for the tournament participants, which sandwiches at $6 and drinks, chips, pretzels, etc even less!

 

Format: 4 Double Rounds G/5;d0, Swiss System.  All games are US Chess-rated. No bye requests.

Sections: Single Open section

Ratings for Sectioning and Prizes: We will use your Over-the-Board Blitz rating from the September 2024 US Chess Rating Supplement.

Entry Fees: $35 through Sat 9/14; $40 beginning Sun 9/15; $45 beginning 9/19 and onsite

Refunds: If you need to withdraw, please contact the Event Organizer below then complete our new refund form to indicate your refund preference.   A $10 refund fee applies to all refunds if you withdraw prior to the start of Round 1.  There are NO refunds after tournament begins.  Please check the ENTRY LIST before registering to make sure you do not register multiple times.   

We have 3 refund options.  Please complete our new REFUND form to indicate your preference: 

• CASH REFUND - Receive the adjusted refund back to your original payment method (via Stripe)  
• CREDIT - Receive a credit for the adjusted refund amount for a future tournament.    
• DONATE - You may donate your adjusted refund amount to HRCA as a tax-deductible gift.  

Prizes:  Cash prizes based on entries.
