The Kansas Senior Championship (Tom Claman Memorial)
Saturday-Sunday, May 17-18, 2025
Basic Information: Both tournaments will be five-round, Swiss-System events. Games held at the Riley County Seniors Services Center, 301 N 4th St, Manhattan, KS 66502. Rated by the United States Chess Federation. Both tournaments are considered Grand Tour events.
Round Times:
Saturday 5/17 Check in: 8:30 – 9:15 AM
Saturday 5/17 Round 1: 9:30 AM, Round 2: 2:30 PM, Round 3 6:30 PM
Sunday 5/18 Round 4: 9 AM, Round 5: 2:00 PM.
Players may request a single half-point bye for rounds 1-4 with advanced notice.
Sections: Open section, open to all players. U1400 section, open to those rated under 1400 on the official May USCF rating list. Kansas Senior open only to players resident in the state of Kansas, and who will be 50 years old on or before May 17, 2025.
Time Control: All moves must be completed in 90 minutes, with a 30-second increment per move starting from move 1.
Entry Fee: Open and U1400: $40 with advance registration by 5/10, $50 at the door.
(k-12 only) If you wish to play with the possibility of no prize money, please contact TD for registration $5 for advance registration by 5/10 $10 at the door.
Kansas Senior: No entry fee. Both: USCF and KCA memberships required, KCA $7/year, or $10 for a family. Please bring boards, sets and clocks if you have them. Limited equipment available.
Prize Fund: (based on 40 players in Open or U1400 for prize money)
Open: 1st $250 2nd $150 3rd $100
U1400: 1st $150 2nd $100 3rd $50
Kansas Senior: 1st $50 plus bid to the Irwin Tournament of Senior State Champs.
