$3,000 Houston Chess Studio March Championship, March 11& 12. Using the March 2023 Supplement.

 2-day schedule -- 2 sections.

First place prize in each section is guaranteed!

$900 for Championship, $600 for Challengers U1700.

5 rounds, G/90, +30, except it's G/60, d5 for round one! 

Round 1 at 9:30am Saturday is G/60, d5. Round 2 at 1pm Saturday, round 3 at 6pm.   Rounds 4 & 5 at 9:30am and 2:00pm Sunday. Rounds 2-5 at G/90, +30.

Grand Masters may enter FREE, $99 entry fee will be deducted from any winnings.

Only one 1/2 point bye available and it must be declared before the beginning of round 2!

Early Entry Fee $99 through March 3rd. Regular Entry $120 through March 8. Late Entry thereafter $140. Registration closes at 8pm Friday the 10th.  CLUB MEMBERS REMEMBER TO USE YOUR DISCOUNT COUPONS!  

CANCELLATION POLICY:  If you cancel and request a refund $15 will be deducted for processing fees, OR you may use the entire amount as a credit for a future tournament entry fee. 

$40 additional for "playing up" one section.  Players rated for the Challengers section (U1700) and rated at least 1500, may play in the Championship section for an additional $40.  

TWO SECTIONS:  

Championship Section (1700 and up) $1,800 Prize Fund - Open to players rated 1700 and up, and unrateds.  1st Place pays $900, guaranteed! 2nd pays $600, 3rd pays $300, 2nd and 3rd prizes are based on 50 total paid entries in both sections combined.

Challengers Section (U1700) $1,200 Prize Fund - Open to players rated U1700 and unrateds. 1st pays $600, guaranteed! 2nd pays $400, 3rd pays $200, 2nd and 3rd prizes based on 50 total paid entries in both sections combined.

UNRATEDS MAY PLAY IN ANY SECTION BUT CAN NOT WIN MORE THAN $200 EXCEPT IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP SECTION WHERE THEY ARE ELIGIBLE FOR ALL PRIZES.

Re-entry Fee is $35 to re-enter, immediately after round one, on Saturday morning and get a 1/2 point bye in round one.

Location: The Houston Chess Studio, 250 Patton St, Suite H, Houston TX 77009 Centrally located and easy to get to, just two blocks off I-45 and just inside N Loop 610. Always plenty of FREE parking. There are 3 cafes in the same strip center as The Houston Chess Studio: The Red Hot Noodle (Asian), Subway (sandwiches), and Patron Pizza.  Several others (TexMex, hamburgers, etc.) are within walking distance.
