Sections: 2 - Under 1500 and Under 1000 and unrated

Rounds: 5

Style: Swiss System

Eligibility: Anyone currently in high school or younger

Time Control: G 35;d5

Check-in: 8:00 - 8:30. 

Schedule: 

Round 1: 9:00

Round 2: 10:30

Round 3:  12:30

Round 4: 2:00

Round 5: 3:30

Players should be done between 3:30 and 5:00

Entry Fee: $35 by Thursday 1/13 - 9:00 a.m. Entries after this time are $40 and do not include lunch. $10 for rated players above 800 to play in the U1500 section

Lunch: To choose your box lunch, Click Here-Lunch Menu. If you eat in the hotel, you must have a vaccination card. Otherwise, you may go to your car or outside to eat your box lunch. 

US Chess Membership Required:  If you are not currently a member, a free membership will be provided.

Late Players: Players not checked-in by 8:30 receive round 1 half-point bye

Prizes:

  • Plaques to 1-5 in each section
  • Plaques to top 3 school teams in each section (top four scores from a school is the team score)
  • Participation award to all players
  • All plaques will be mailed after the tournament
  • Prizes awarded only if a prizewinner exists; prizes are not reallocated

Chess Equipment

Boards, sets, provided by Caveman Chess, LLC
Bring your own chess clock.  Please know how to set your clock. Clocks set differently, and tournament directors cannot know how to set all clocks.


COVID Rules

Illinois and Cook County rules require masks and for players over 5, vaccine identification for players who eat within the hotel.
