August 12th Scholastic at The Houston Chess Studio

A USCF rated Scholastic 5 Round Swiss. G/25, d5. Open to K-12 rated under 1200.  Using August 2023 Supplement.

Entry Fee $25 thru Aug 4th; $40 thereafter.

Everyone is subject to being electronically "wanded" (scanned) for hidden eletronic devices in order to reduce the possibility of cheating.

The TD may divide the tournament into 2 or more sections, depending on the number of entries, so that players are more closely matched with opponents of their own chess ability.

PRIZES: Everyone gets a medal!  All medals are 2" and include a neck ribbon that will fit players of all sizes. 

PLUS: the winner of the top section gets a free entry to his/her choice of any upcoming Poison Pawns Sunday Swiss tournament at The Studio.  That's a $40 value. 

AND the winner of the next highest section (if there is one) gets a free entry to any upcoming Poison Pawns Scholastic tournament at The Studio.  That is also a $40 value. 

CANCELLATION POLICY:  If you cancel and request a refund $15 will be deducted for processing fees, OR you may use the entire amount as a credit for a future tournament entry fee. 

Rounds scheduled for 9am, 10am, and 11am, then lunch break*. Round 4 at 1pm, final round about 2pm.

Location: The Houston Chess Studio, 250 Patton St, Suite H, Houston TX 77009 Centrally located and easy to get to, just two blocks off I-45 and just inside N Loop 610.  Always plenty of FREE PARKING.

*There are 3 cafes in the same strip center as the Houston Chess Studio.  The Red Hot Noodle (Asian), Subway (sandwiches), and Patron Pizza.  Several others (TexMex, hamburgers, etc.) are within walking distance.
