$2,000 Houston Chess Studio April Championship, April 15-16

Using April supplement 

5 Round Swiss, G/90, +30. (Round 1 is G/60, d5)

2 day schedule.  Round 1 at 9:30 am Sat. Round 2 at 1pm, Round 3 at 6 pm.  Round 4 at 9:30 am Sunday and Round 5 at 2:00 pm.  Round 1 is G/60, d5.  Rounds 2-5 are G/90, +30.

3 SECTIONS:

1.Championship - 1800 and up

2.Challengers - 1799-1300

3.Moving Up - U1300

First Place Prizes in each of the 3 sections are Guaranteed. Remaining prize fund based on 50 total paid entries in both sections combined.

Grand Masters may enter FREE, $99 entry fee will be deducted from any winnings. 

Only one 1/2 point bye available and it must be declared before the beginning of round 2!  

CANCELLATION POLICY:  If you cancel and request a refund $15 will be deducted for processing fees, OR you may use the entire amount as a credit for a future tournament entry fee.

Early Entry Fee $99 through April 5th, $120 thru April 12th, $140 thereafter.  CLUB MEMBERS REMEMBER TO USE YOUR DISCOUNT COUPONS!

Championship Section (1800 and up) $900 Prize Fund - For players rated 1800 and up, and unrateds.  Those rated U1800 but at least 1600 may "play up" in this section by paying the additional $35 "play up" fee.  1st Place pays $600 guaranteed. 2nd pays $300, based on 50 total paid entries in all 3 sections combined.

Challengers Section (1799-1300) $700 Prize Fund - open to all rated 1300-1799, and unrateds. Those rated U1300 may "play up "in this section by paying the additional $35 "play up" fee. 1st pays $450 guaranteed. 2nd pays $250, based on 50 total paid entries in all 3 sections combined.

Moving Up Section (U1300) $450 Prize Fund - open to all rated U1300, and unrateds. 1st pays $300 guaranteed. 2nd pays $150, based on 50 total paid entries in all 3 sections combined.

UNRATEDS MAY PLAY IN ANY SECTION BUT MAY NOT WIN MORE THAN $150 EXCEPT IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP SECTION WHERE THEY ARE ELIGIBLE FOR ALL PRIZES.

It is possible that the tournament may be consolidated into fewer than 3 sections if there happens to be very few entries in a particular section. 

There are only 52 seats available. These monthly Championships frequently sell out so register soon or risk missing out.

LOCATION:  THE HOUSTON CHESS STUDIO is Houston's only 'brick and mortar' chess club.  Centrally and conveniently located at 250 Patton Street, Suite H, Houston TX 77009.  Just inside North Loop 610 and only 2 blocks off North I-45.  There are 3 restaurants in the same strip center as THE STUDIO; The Red Hot Noodle (Asian), Subway(sandwiches), and Patron Pizza.  Several other restaurants are within walking distance. Plenty of parking and PARKING IS ALWAYS FREE!
