Silver State Chess Association and local affiliate Southern Nevada Chess Club, will host a rated Chess tournament on February 15, 2025 for youth players registered in any section of the Southern or Northern Nevada State Scholastic Championship tournaments (open or girls), or players who are considering registering but have not yet entered.
This tournament is perfect for players who are brand new to USCF, unrated players, and also for those with a provisional rating. Tournament Directors will be available and may assist new players to become accustomed to notation taking and using a chess clock; both of which will be used at the 2025 Southern Nevada Scholastic Championship tournament on March 1st, as well as the 2025 Southern Nevada Girls Scholastic Championship tournament on March 8th (and the respective Northern Nevada tournaments on March 22nd and 23rd). Tournament Directors can also answer any questions players and parents may have regarding the United States Chess Federation (and how to register or renew membership) or scholastic chess in Nevada. More experienced players who already have a rating are welcome and may use this tournament as a refresher to warm-up prior to the championship events.
Maximum number of entries: 50. Registration not confirmed until payment received. Waitlist will start if/when max entries received. After the waitlist has started, please email chess@snvchess.com and include player name, USCF ID, parent name, phone number, and email address. We will contact you if a space becomes available.
