2025 Iowa Senior Qualifier

When:  April 12th, 2025

Where: Christ the King Church,  325 Mormon Trek Blvd,  Iowa City, Iowa 52246

 

Entry Fee: $25 online until April 1st $30 Thereafter.  

  Must be 50+ years of age to enter.  Must be member of Iowa Chess Association and resident of the state of Iowa to win the tournament Other States May play however cannot represent Iowa at the US Open.  Memberships available onsite. 

Rounds: 4 Rounds.  If less than 8 players TD will reduce that section to 3 rounds.  

Round Times: Saturday 9am - 11:30 pm – 2:00pm – 5:00 pm. 

Prizes: 

1st place $70 + trophy and the right to represent Iowa for the National Senior Invitational tournament, the Irwin to be held at the US Open along side the Barber/Denker/Rockefeller/Haring, 2nd place $50 3rd Place $30 Winner will have the right to represent Iowa in the Irwin Senior tournament of champions held concurrently with the US Open in Madison, Wisconsin on  28 July - 31 July 2025.    Players are encouraged to complete all games in tournament, and submit copies (scoresheets) of all their games played and submit one annotated game to Iowa En Passant .

 All Sections One half point bye if requested before round1.

Additional Info: if tournament ends in a tie. A playoff will be played, each player will play both colors,  G5 d2 until a winner is determined.
