Commemorative Chess Clock for oldest and for player whose home is the farthest from site (among all sections).

In the event of ties, plaque winners will be determined by US Chess tiebreaks (MSCO).

 3-Day Schedule

On-site Registration: Friday (3/8) from 5:30-6:45 p.m.

3-Day Round Times:

  Friday, March 8:   7:30pm
Saturday, March 9:  1pm & 6pm
Sunday, March 10:   9:30am & 3pm

2-Day Schedule

On-site Registration: Saturday (3/9) from 8:00-8:30 a.m.

2-Day Round Times:

                        Saturday, March 9Round 1 at 9:30am then merge with 3-Day Schedule for Round 2 at 1pm. 

 BYES

Two 1/2-point byes are available for any round.  You must advise the Chief Tournament Director and commit to any byes prior to the start of Round 3 After the start of Round 3, no voluntary byes may be added, changed or rescinded.


 ENTRY FEES

Titled Players:  GMs, IMs, WGMs, and WIMs pay no Entry Fee; however, the regular early Entry Fee ($109) will be deducted from any winnings of IMs or WIMs.  IF YOU ARE A TITLED PLAYER, register online. The entry fee amount is adjusted with the title.  

OPEN, U2000, U1800 & U1600, including Unrated Players in the OPEN Section): $109 by 2/26/2024$119 by 3/4/2024 3/5/2024; $125 thereafter and on site.

U1300:  $79 by 2/26/2024; $89 by 3/4/2024 3/5/2024$99 thereafter and on site. 

Re-Entry Fee:  $40.  Available prior to the start of Round 3, EXCEPT in FIDE-rated Sections (Open & U2000).  Re-entries = 40% of full entry.

Withdrawals: Withdrawal refunds will be made for 80% of the entry fee paid.  No withdrawal refunds after March 6, 2024. 

Unrated players may play in any section.

Friday, March 8: 5:30pm - 6:45pm (for 3-Day Schedule)
Saturday, March 9:   8:00am - 8:30am (for 2-Day Schedule)
No checks accepted at site (cash or credit cards only).
On-line registration will close at 4:30pm on Friday, March 8, 2024 (for 3-Day Schedule), and at 7:30am Saturday, March 9, 2024 (for 2-Day Schedule).

2024 LONE STAR SCHOLASTIC CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS

One-Day Scholastic event, at the same location as the Lone Star Open, Saturday, March 9, 2024.  For information please go to https://www.kingregistration.com/event/24LoneStarScho .

A scholastic player may play in both the Lone Star Open and the Lone Star Scholastic; however, to do so player must take the appropriate 1/2-point bye(s) for the main event.  If registered in the Lone Star Open 3-Day Schedue, player must take a 1/2-point bye in Round 2 of main event.  If registered in the 2-Day Schedule, player must take two 1/2-point byes (Round 1 & 2 of main event).

BLITZ TOURNAMENT

Not US Chess-Rated

Sunday, March 10, 2024 at approximately 1:30 pm
Format: G/5 d0 (unrated games with each opponent having 5 minutes to complete his/her game). Number of sections will be determined on site by number of participants.  
Pairings:  Usually there are two sections, Upper and Lower, if there are enough players to make two separate sections.  Regular US Chess ratings are used for pairings/prizes.

Entry Fee: $20 per player.

Prizes: 70% of Entry Fees returned as cash prizes.

Registration: Onsite only.  Register anytime by 1pm, Sunday, March 10, 2024.
