On the day of the tournament:
All players should be ready to play by signing into www.chess.com/live , at least 5 minutes before the start of each round. They should not be playing any games before the start the round --- Games will automatically appear if they are on the chess.com live page. Players may take a break in-between rounds, so long as they return to www.chess.com/live before the start of the next round time.
K-8 & K-12 Section: K-3 & K-5 Sections:

Event Rules:
- The main ruleset for this event is the US Chapter 10: Online Chess Rules. KSCA Tie-break system will be used as mentioned in “Prizes.”
- All players agree to play their game fairly, without the use of any assistance, including but not limited to, computer chess engines, databases, chess books, magazines, written notes and/or another person. Violation of this rule is subject to penalties, including but not limited to, forfeiture of game, forfeiture of tournament, and being barred all KSCA tournaments.
- While playing, players can only have chess.com browser open and the tournament Pairings/Standings page open --- all other programs on their computer, including notifications, should be turned off. It is highly recommended that the player does not switch to another program or tab while their game is in progress to prevent this “technical violation”.
If other programs or tabs are found to be opened, this constitutes a “technical violation”, and your player may be removed from the tournament and all games declared lost.
Qualifications:
- All players must meet KSCA Eligibility requirements. Info: KSCA Eligibility
- Has an chess.com account that is in good standing
Format:
6 rounds swiss system, team-protected, Game in 30 minutes with a 5 second increment. The higher of the USCF/KSCA rating will be used for pairing purposes --- the chess.com rating has no effect on the pairings. All players will play their games on chess.com live server which is www.chess.com/live
Byes:
Players may request only one half-point bye for rounds 1-5 if done so with online registration.
Prizes:
Top 10 Individuals in each section receive personalized digital certificates
Top 3 Teams in each section receive personalized digital certificates
KSCA Tiebreaks: Modified Median, Median, Solkoff, Sonneborn-Berger, Cumulative, Coin flip.
All results are considered tentative until the chess.com has completed their fairplay analysis of the tournament; the final standings will be announced on the KSCA website.
