US Chess K-12 Rated Tournament

Rounds: 4 rounds at G/30;d0, Swiss

Start Time: 1st round is at noon, rest ASAP.

Sections: Grades K-3, 4-5, 6-8, 9-12*

Prizes: Trophies and awards to top 5 winners in each section. You must win or draw at least one game to receive a trophy/award.  Tiebreakers:  Solkoff, Modified Median, Sonneborn--Berger, Performance of Opposition and Average Opposition.  Drawings, giveaways, chess ribbons for all participants. 

US Chess:  Current membership is required.  New to rated chess?  Congrats!  You can purchase your membership directly at https://secure2.uschess.org/webstore/member.php  or at a discount through Treasure Chess Association**.  Please purchase before registering. Thanks.  

Equipment:  Boards and sets provided. Please bring your own clock if possible.  

Lunch:  Refreshments between rounds. Cafe at the Library on site. Golden Harbor, Wingstop, Jet's Pizza, Baskin Robbins, walking distance.  

Entry Fee: $15 by 4/8, $20 after that through Saturday, 4/14, 8 PM.  No walk in registrations.

Capacity: Limited to the first 84 entries

Knight's Tour:  "The gauntlet, 'tis thrown..."  Choose your knight and take a tour.  Ties?   Keep jousting!  Special awards to top 3 champions. 

Free Tournament Workshop:  Monday, 4/2/18, 6:00-7:30.  Champaign Public Library.  Relaxed, informative.  Let us know if you're attending; and please bring your own equipment.

 

ADVANCE NOTICE 4/6/18:    Due to the high number of K-3 entrants, we are splitting that section into 2 sections:  K-1 and 2-3.  Each section will receive 1st through 5th place trophies/awards.  So, fairer chess play and more prizes!  Thanks for your support.
